The move imitates Amazon.com efforts to court gradually important third party sellers. Some other sellers have said they are afraid Amazon.com controls too much of the sales procedure and makes its own private label copies of top selling items to sell to buyers at a low prices.
“The data does not prove it,” Faricy speaks on the allegations that Amazon.com is jeopardizing sellers. Third-parties have grown to account for about 50% of units sold on Amazon.com, he said.
Access to Amazon’s more than 300 million customers permitted 100000 sellers to make at least US$ 100,000 each through the company last year, Faricy told, and its fulfillment services have made costly daily delivery reasonable for small sellers.
Shoppers, brands or Amazon.com itself can flag counterfeit goods through the brand registry, which Amazon.com developed in 2016.
Amazon.com is also offering brands a program called “Transparency,” which give them label packages with a pass code so buyer can cross check their product against official information.
Faricy said hard work against counterfeit products are at an initial stage.
“I do not think it is the kind of thing where you ever sense like there is a clear ending, he said.” It is a journey.
